Increasingly widespread, beach tennis is a racket sport that, as the name reveals, is played on sandy beaches around the world — or on sand courts.
It is believed that the sport emerged in Italy in the 1970s as a way to keep tourists entertained during their holidays. Due to its appeal to a wide audience, it quickly took off and is now played in many countries around the world — and has become a rage in Brazil.
It is with the public that loves this sport in mind that the Jurema Águas Quentes every year it promotes the Beach Tennis championship, which this year had its sixth edition.
Located in the interior of Paraná, the Hotel received several guests, from 7 to 68 years old, competing against each other. More than a competition, the destination becomes true therapy for the participants. “I had very serious breast cancer. I learned a lot from the disease and I know that what saved me was my love for sport. It was during one of the breaks in treatment that I discovered Beach Tennis, before having my last surgery. I told my doctor: 'I need to be well because I want to play this new sport'. After I was cured, I played every day and it was then that I decided I wanted to teach beach classes — I resigned from the court where I worked and, today, I'm a coach for the Praná national team. I feel proud to participate in the Jurema Open“, says Aninha Bruel, one of the participants in the championship.
After the championship, the hotel also promoted a closing party with all participants — and other hotel guests, which also has a large leisure and sports area for those seeking well-being.
