There are people who wake up, put on their fitness clothes and run to the gym. Other people, however, already feel the pressure drop just thinking about train fasting. But, after all, who is the strategy recommended for? Does it bring any benefits?
Does training on an empty stomach make you lose more weight or is it harmful?
“In the long term don't lose weight anymorebecause the body ends up adapting and learns to replace the fat used during exercise. But there are no harms either. So, if you prefer to wake up and go straight to the gym, no problem (as long as you don’t feel sick)”, explained the personal Rafael Lundmaster in sports science, in a previous chat with Boa Forma.
“Although science does not have a consensus, some studies point to advantages in training on an empty stomach, such as improved performance – the story of spending muscle as a source of energy can be easily avoided by regulating the amount of protein you eat after sweating. At the end of the day, the most important thing is to ensure you are willing to give your maximum effort in training”, he added.
I.e, There's no problem training on an empty stomach if you prefer.. The ideal, then, is to eat a balanced and nutrient-dense diet (especially complex carbohydrates) the night before. After all, it will be this meal that will provide you with energy to maintain motivation during physical exertion!
However, if you like to make a bakery breakfast before going knitr, wait for an hour between one thing and another – this way, you avoid gastric discomfort.
